Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza had a 'fantastic' meeting with the Las Vegas Raiders at the NFL scouting combine, according to the player himself. But here's where it gets controversial... While it seems likely that Mendoza will be selected by the Raiders with the top pick, he knows that anything can happen in the draft. Mendoza was able to sit down with the organization's key figures, including head coach Klint Kubiak and general manager John Spytek, and even had a brief phone call with minority owner Tom Brady, his idol. Mendoza was impressed by the team's football savvy and detailed approach to teaching plays. And this is the part most people miss... Despite the positive meeting, Mendoza remains grounded, understanding that the draft landscape can shift between now and April 23 in Pittsburgh. So, will the Raiders stick to their original plan, or will something unexpected happen? We'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, Mendoza is just excited for the opportunity and ready to give his all to the team that drafts him. Contact Adam Hill at ahill@reviewjournal.com.
