The good news is that Arturas Karnisovas, the executive vice president of basketball operations, seems to have realized that the quick fix approach he's been trying since the start of the 2024-25 campaign isn't sustainable. Last February, the Sun-Times reported that NBA executives described Karnisovas as open-minded and transparent about trade talks, a positive step forward.
The newspaper also revealed that Karnisovas and the Minnesota Timberwolves had serious discussions about trading for White. While those talks cooled down for a while, they haven't completely disappeared. With renewed interest in White, the Timberwolves could be back in the mix, or perhaps they'll explore other options like Ayo Dosunmu or Tre Jones, both of whom offer different strengths and contract situations.
But what about the rumored deal with the New Orleans Pelicans for Zion Williamson? Unfortunately, that option seems off the table, with multiple media outlets reporting that the Pelicans aren't open to trading Williamson or other key players like Trey Murphy, Herbert Jones, or rookies Derik Queen and Jeremiah Fears. It's a stance that aligns with the Pelicans' unusual decision-making this year.
Finally, there's the persistent rumor linking the Bulls to Golden State's Jonathan Kuminga. Karnisovas has reportedly coveted Kuminga for over a year, but would he be the difference-maker the Bulls need? Probably not, which means he'd fit right in with the current roster.
